Nicole began working with PRfirst in May 2011 as an account executive; she was named president in February 2021. A Plymouth, Mass., resident, she brings more than 25 years of writing, editing, and media relations experience to her role, including direct journalism experience as a writer for the Griffin Report and Plymouth Patch. Nicole holds a B.A. in media studies from Ithaca College, and currently serves as vice president of the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth Board of Directors and as an ambassador for the South Shore Chamber of Commerce.
Arlene Anderton fills a variety of roles at PRfirst. In addition to serving as Office Manager, she schedules and tracks PR placements for clients and oversees the distribution of press material. Arlene’s background includes work with a Hanover, Mass., legal firm and a management role with a Weymouth, Mass., graphic design firm. Prior to joining PRfirst, she was affiliated with a startup PR firm in Weymouth.
Sharon has been a member of the PRfirst team for 16 years. She is the former editor-in-chief of The Southeastern Massachusetts Business Journal, prior to which she was an award-winning reporter, features writer and arts and entertainment critic for The Enterprise of Brockton. She has also done extensive editorial work for the Massachusetts Nurses Association and for numerous regional publications and national periodicals. A former restaurant critic for NECN’s “TV Diner,” Sharon is a graduate of Worcester State College (now University) with a B.A. in journalism.
Colleen has been a member of the PRfirst team since August of 2000. She began her career in journalism as a reporter and editor for the Amarillo Globe News, Amarillo, Texas, where she covered breaking news and was assigned to the police, medical and religion beats. In addition, she provided feature articles for the weekend edition. She is a former freelance reporter and writer for numerous Massachusetts publications including the Wellesley Townsman, MetroWest Daily News and the Boston area Tabpapers. She was a freelance editor for the American Heritage Dictionary, published by Houghton Mifflin, Boston. A graduate of Providence College, Colleen earned numerous writing awards as a member of the Texas Press Women. Locally Colleen served as publicity chair for the Norwell project of Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the advisory board of Campus of Caring, an organization that built the nonprofit Pat Roche Hospice Home on the South Shore. Colleen is currently Vice President and President Elect of the Friends of South Shore Health, which raises funds and supports the South Shore Health System.
Jim Farrell, founder, started PRfirst in March 1998. He is the former manager of public relations for Dickinson Direct, Braintree, Mass., and vice-president, client services at Dubin & Farrell Advertising/Public Relations, Weymouth, Mass. Jim worked in the newspaper industry prior to the field of public relations. He was the editor and publisher of two weekly newspapers, the Kingston Independent Voice and Carver Independent. Following the sale of his newspapers, he worked at Mariner Newspaper Group, Marshfield, Mass. He is a former columnist for the Business Journal of Southeastern Massachusetts, and writes on PR topics for a number of journals. He currently serves on the Hanover (Mass.) Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is active in a number of business associations.
